4th Raffle – 2014 Newton Pens Scholarship

#4 got it!  Congrats to whoever is #4!!  Yeeha!  You get a pen and a kid gets some help going to college!  Thanks!!

Here’s the next pen up for raffle!
25 tickets already sold!  Day 1.
34 sold as of Oct 3rd
37 at the end of Oct 5th!  (my birthday)  :)
58 tickets sold by Oct 8th
66 sold by morning of Oct 12th
70 tickets as of Oct 13th – drawing tonight!

That’s right – I haven’t even made it yet.  :)  The section is black phenolic resin, and the rest of the pen is up to you.  I was thinking of a nice straight seamless, like this one, but it will be up to the winner of course.  :)  If black isn’t your thing, pick whatever material you like.

The nib choice is totally up to the winner as well.  You can choose steel, any tip size, any grind, or 14k or 18k gold, any tip size, any grind.  The winner will have the option of taking the gold nib with the cost coming out of the raffle winnings, paying for the gold nib, or taking a steel nib.  The response to the last raffle was so huge that I think this is how I’ll run it each time.

Raffle tickets are $10 each.  All you have to do to buy a ticket is send $10 to newtonpenspay@gmail.com using paypal.  When you buy a ticket you’ll be given a number based on the order that you bought it.  If you’re the 3rd person to buy a raffle ticket, then you’ll be #3, and so on.

I’ll use a random number picker and will have it pick from the numbers available.  So if only 32 people buy tickets, the number picker will pick from 1-32.

So if all that sounds good then you can buy as many raffle tickets as you want payable through paypal to newtonpenspay@gmail.com.  Be sure not to send payment to my other email address.

If you have any questions at all please contact me at newtonpenspay@gmail.com, or ask here in the comments section.  Please be sure to send payment to the correct paypal address or it may get lost.

Raffle ends 9pm central US time, Sunday, October 13, 2013.  Not tax deductible.

  1. Is Phenolic Resin same as Micarta? Does it come in other colors? Are other materials compatible to use with this to make a complete pen?

    1. Phenolic resin is same as used in the TWSBI micarta pen. I can get it in black and the reddish brown show in the photo above. As for being compatible with other materials – I suppose it could go with anything you wanted. The winner of the raffle can have a pen made from any material – not just the phenolic resin above. :)
